As we wrap up our 31st year in business, I’d like to take some time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished this past year. It was a great year for us at Kiefer, marked by some significant changes in how we operate as an organization and in how we work with our clients.
I wanted to build a company that put integrity, our people and our clients at the center of everything we do.– Gregory Kiefer, CEO (Kiefer Consulting, Inc.)
When I started Kiefer in 1988, I wanted to build a company that put integrity, our people and our clients at the center of everything we do. I started the company with a simple goal to successfully deliver projects in a way in which we make good on our commitments to our customers while providing a rewarding and fulfilling working environment to our employees.
To do this well, you need a strong foundation and need to be willing to make the little changes to keep up with client expectations and the best interests of your employees. We have not wavered from this, and as we close out 2019, I’m proud of what we have done this year.
Recognition in 2019
Kiefer was recognized in 2019 by the Sacramento Business Journal as a top 10 Software Developer and top 10 IT Consulting Firm. Kiefer was also recognized as a finalist in the Small Business Administration Contractor of the Year awards and the Region Innovation Awards.
Kiefer also received recognition from their business partner, Nintex. Kiefer was honored to be a finalist in the Nintex Partner of the Year awards in the Business Acceleration category.
Welcoming New Employees
This year, we welcomed 3 new employees to the Kiefer family. Chad Vander Veen, Josh McClanahan and Joseph Hinshaw joined the Kiefer team in 2019. We recognize that our people are what makes us one of the most respected IT consulting firms in northern California. We are always looking for the right people, and this year, it feels great to say that we found 3 more.
In Our Community
Kiefer had 2 members of the executive leadership team serve on the steering committee for Folsom Community Service Day, the largest day of volunteerism in the city of Folsom. We are proud to be involved in a community-driven event that engages over 3,000 people each year to contribute to making the community better.
I had the pleasure of working with a team of individuals in a Community Service Day program called Neighbors Helping Seniors, in which citizens helped seniors with yard clean up, cleaning gutters, and removing brush/debris. This was a very rewarding experience and it was a wonderful opportunity to see neighbors connecting to help their neighbors.
Establishing User Communities
This year, Kiefer built on a long legacy of connecting users and those interested in technology by establishing 2 new user groups. The Public Sector I.T. Leadership Meetup and Business Intelligence Sacramento. While we had hoped to host more events in 2019, we were very happy with what we were able to accomplish in 2019. We are already planning more events for 2020, with a session already scheduled for late January 2020. We believe in connecting individuals with similar interests so they can network, learn from each other, and grow professionally.
The Year Ahead
Over the last 3 years, Kiefer has taken big steps to refine our portfolio and we have made significant investments to improve our internal operations so we can become a more efficient organizations.
I look forward to seeing what we can do in 2020 to make Kiefer even better. A better employer, a better business partner, a better organization.
We have found some excellent books on business and leadership that have helped in creating a blueprint for 2020. We are happy to share what we’ve learned and our strategies for internal improvement with I.T. leaders in 2020.
Perhaps you’ve known me for a long time. Maybe this is the first time you’ve read about Kiefer and have never met me… Whatever the case may be, let’s connect in 2020. Let’s meet for a cup of tea and talk about how Kiefer might be able to help you achieve your 2020 goals. I look forward to talking with you.
