Use your Microsoft Software Assurance Vouchers

Many of our clients use Microsoft Software Assurance Training Vouchers (SATVs) to help in deploying, managing, supporting, and driving the adoption of Microsoft software. Kiefer clients with Microsoft Enterprise Agreements can use the SATVs by contacting us and scheduling sessions with Kiefer subject matter experts (SMEs).

Use your Microsoft Training Vouchers before they expire.

Recently, Microsoft announced that they were making several changes to SATV program. Over the course of the next 3 years, Microsoft will be retiring SATV programs in favor of a new training and certification program that is designed to deliver a better learning experience.

The timetable for changes to the SATV program are as follows.

February 1, 2020:

SATVs will not be eligible for redemption against Azure training. Other Microsoft workloads/applications will continue to be eligible for SATV redemption.

February 1, 2020:

Training vouchers can no longer be converted to planning services days.

February 1, 2021:

End to accrual of new training days.

June 1, 2021:

Last day to create training vouchers.

According to Microsoft, new contracts won’t have any training vouchers assigned and existing contracts won’t receive any additional training vouchers.

January 1, 2022:

Last day to redeem training vouchers. The Training Vouchers benefit will be fully retired.

Using your vouchers

Training vouchers are included with your enterprise software agreement. Sadly, many of these vouchers go unused and organizations never realize the benefits. The vouchers entitle you entitle you to a designated number of training days based on the amount of the qualifying Office and/or Windows software licenses covered with Software Assurance.

Steps in the SATV Process

This process focuses exclusively on the administrative steps that are required by Software Assurance (SA) customers in order to redeem SA training vouchers (SATVs). The steps are outlined in the order in which they occur in the overall process.

Determining if you have SATVs

Find out if you have SATVs and determine how many training days your organization might have. The number of training days is based on the number of qualifying Office and/or Windows licenses covered by Software Assurance.

Activating the SATV

You can activate your SATV benefits on the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) website. On the Benefit Summary page, click Training Vouchers. On the next page, click Activate Benefit.

Creating the training voucher

Click on the link to create the training voucher and enter all of the required information and fill in the number of days the voucher is worth. You have to redeem the voucher within 180 days.
