Today is Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity that takes place every year on the 1st Tuesday in December. This year’s Giving Tuesday falls on December 1, 2020.

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: it is a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Giving Tuesday is meaningful to Kiefer. Our team is community-minded and many of our employees work in their communities as volunteers, coaches, board members, and advocates.

Justin Raithel Facebook post recognizing Kiefer CEO, Greg Kiefer.
This year, Kiefer supported Folsom Community Service Day. Kiefer CEO, Greg Kiefer, coordinated the Neighbors Helping Seniors projects so the former lead could chair the Community Service Day Steering Committee.

This year has been very different for us at Kiefer. User groups and events that benefit our community of technologists have been canceled. It has been challenging to stay connected without our face-to-face events. In March and April, we conducted several free sessions to help organizations navigate the challenges of supporting a distributed workforce. Our team of experts has successfully helped usher in new work styles and supported numerous organizations in enabling remote work. The free consultations were valuable to organizations that had to accelerate their adoption of tools like Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. This was an opportunity to help organizations adapt, pivot and improve.

Despite social distancing, restrictions on gatherings and other pandemic related changes to societal norms, we have continued to find ways to stay connected and serve within our communities. Kiefer participated in Folsom Community Service Day for our 3rd consecutive year, collected coats for those in need and volunteered in our respective communities. How we serve may be a little different but the spirit remains the same.

At Kiefer, we see every day as an opportunity to give back, to show support for others, and build stronger communities. We are especially grateful for a day that highlights that each and every one of us have gifts to give. We realize that this year has been challenging for so many of us, but if you can extend a helping hand, give to a cause you believe in, volunteer, or advocate for an issue… today is the day!
