The Port of Los Angeles (POLA) had made a significant investment in SharePoint to improve business processes. In order to fully realize the value of SharePoint, it was critical that POLA finds ways to maximize their investment. POLA was looking for ways to leverage SharePoint to improve collaboration and workflows and needed a partner that could help them navigate the complexities of using SharePoint in innovative ways.
- Kiefer worked with POLA and installed SharePoint 2007.
- Built the iPOLA intranet with custom design, and a site for each division, with custom layout pages.
- Built 25 unique “services” (applications) based on prior business analysis. These included a board report workflow, graphics design request and parking permit request form.
- Created user documentation and administrator documentation.
- Held training sessions.
- Created workflows with Nintex workflow.
- Scanned all board reports into an archive system.
- Established governance and policies for SharePoint.
In addition, Kiefer was later engaged to help with upgrading POLA’s existing SharePoint environment to SharePoint 2010 and then to SharePoint 2013. Kiefer helped POLA with the task of migrating all content to SharePoint 2013 and updated the design to be responsive with new elements & colors. Kiefer also helped POLA add a new portal site collection and a new projects site collection along with managed metadata.
Kiefer helped POLA maximize their investment in SharePoint and migrate content to new SharePoint environments with very little disruption. Kiefer’s extensive experience with building workflows, intranets and governance helped POLA get more out of SharePoint.
