​Challenge:

California is home to approximately 1.8 million veterans (9% of the nation's veteran population) and over 30,000 recently discharged members of the armed services come to California each year. Although California has the largest veteran population in the nation, the State of California had historically underperformed in the utilization of major veteran benefits such as compensation, pension, education, housing and healthcare benefits.

Action:

Kiefer Consulting developed an Internet solution that connects veterans, their dependents and their families with services they need and benefits they have earned. MyCalVet transformed the historical internet presence from a focusing on "what we do" as an agency to providing direct benefits and services to "those we serve", our Nation's Heroes.

Kiefer leveraged the WCM Accelerator to transform myCalVet into a leading example of Responsive Design, providing a single delivery platform across channels, platforms and devices.

Results:

The solution was launched March 9th 2014, with no formal media announcements. Within the first week, over 1,000 Veterans had registered on the MyCalVet site. By the end of the 3rd week, over 5,000 Veterans had registered. This resulted in over 5,000 new California Veteran cases being referred to local county service organizations, over 2,000 direct connections with local area service providers and immeasurable improvement in the lives of veterans.
